Responsibilities

Reporting to the Affiliate Technology Services (ATS), Program Manager, the Information Technology Interns will work closely with affiliate operations staff other designated IT team members, and IT-adjacent stakeholder departments (e.g., Information Security, Data Governance & Privacy, ASNI). This internship is an opportunity to contribute to process improvement and organizational technology projects that provide necessary support and infrastructure to empower the larger organization’s goal of protecting the liberties that define our democracy. You'll work with a cross-functional group of Analysts, Managers, and Engineers to research, design, test, and deliver technical improvements and systems-based solutions that will continue to drive ACLU’s work. Specifically, the IT Intern will support our ATS program in recurring, operational cadences and strategic initiatives that include digital records management, data curation and quality control, project management, and customer relationship management, culminating in durable technical solutions that support program growth and increase value to cross-functional stakeholders.
Co-create: Co-design and update workflow procedures and processes related to monthly billing reconciliations (automated and manual), user audits, account analytics, and program metrics.
Build: Curate, model, design, test, implement, and operationalize a customer relationship management database that centralizes points of contact, account profiles and preferences, site architecture, infrastructure requirements and setup, and other operationally relevant metadata.
Document: Write detailed technical specifications and documentation for all assigned work processes, technical solutions, and user-facing communications.
Test: Perform Quality Assurance and in-development testing for operational systems and processes.
Train: Support the ACLU IT Team on organization-wide trainings for non-technical users focused on enterprise application best practices and security compliance.

A proactive, systems-first, analytical, creative problem-solving mindset with exceptional communication and documentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Exceptional research ability on technical matters including emerging tech, cybersecurity, digital accessibility, and comparative analyses on related cloud-based enterprise platforms and business applications
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Create professional, publish-ready, story-telling PowerPoint presentations that synthesize complex technical information into easy-to-consume decks, leveraging best practices in human-centered, infographics, and accessible digital graphic design principles
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN) and understanding and/or experience with customer relational database management principles and best practices would be helpful
