Brelle Director of Electrical Engineering at Brelle leading electrical engineering function for energy and powertrain products. Sets technical direction and leads complex design work.
Responsibilities
As Director of Electrical Engineering, you will lead the electrical engineering function at Brelle. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced electrical engineer who can set technical direction, lead complex design work, and build a strong team as the company grows.
You'll own electrical engineering across our products and programs, from system architecture and electrical design through integration, testing, and validation. You'll work closely with mechanical engineering, firmware, systems integration, and manufacturing to ensure our electrical systems are designed for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and real-world application.
You'll also lead and develop our electrical engineering team, providing technical guidance, establishing sound engineering practices, and helping engineers grow in their capabilities and ownership. We're looking for someone who can move comfortably between the big picture and the technical details, making thoughtful engineering decisions while staying close to the work.
This is an opportunity to shape both the technology and the team behind it.
Lead Electrical Engineering
Own the electrical engineering function, setting technical direction, priorities, and engineering standards across Brelle's products and programs.
Lead electrical system architecture and design, balancing performance, safety, reliability, packaging, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
Guide electrical design across complex electromechanical systems, including power distribution, control systems, ECUs, and supporting electronics.
Make and communicate sound technical decisions, working through tradeoffs and resolving complex design challenges.
Establish design review, documentation, verification, and validation practices that support quality and consistency as the team scales.
Drive Design, Integration, and Validation
Lead electrical design from early architecture and requirements through detailed design, prototyping, integration, testing, and production.

Required
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Significant experience in electrical engineering, including leading the design and development of complex electrical systems for physical products.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineers through direct people management, mentorship, and technical leadership.
Deep understanding of electrical system architecture, circuit design, power distribution, electrical interfaces, and hardware integration.
Experience taking electrical designs from concept through prototyping, testing, validation, and production.
Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs across performance, reliability, safety, cost, packaging, and manufacturability.
Experience working closely with embedded firmware and control systems, including ECU design and hardware-software integration.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical investigations from initial symptoms through root cause and resolution.
A hands-on approach and the technical depth to engage directly in design reviews, troubleshooting, and complex engineering decisions.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines, manufacturing, and company leadership.
Comfort operating in a growing company where priorities evolve, processes are still being built, and leaders are expected to take ownership beyond their immediate area.
Preferred
Experience in one or more of the following would be especially valuable:
Automotive, motorsports, powersports, aerospace, robotics, or other complex electromechanical products.
ECU architecture and design, embedded control electronics, and hardware-software integration.
High-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, including power distribution and electrical safety.
Electrified powertrains, energy systems, or other electrically driven products.
Design for manufacturing, automated production, and electrical end-of-line testing.
Building or scaling an engineering team in an early-stage or high-growth environment.
At Brelle, we value people who take ownership, think beyond their immediate responsibilities, and care about the quality of what they build.
