This is a hybrid role, which will require working onsite from our Somerville, MA or Weirton, WV office 3+ days per week. Relocation assistance is available.

Lead the development, optimization, and industrialization of manufacturing processes at supplier sites for battery active materials (e.g., battery electrolytes, carbon powders, iron powders). This includes process flow, equipment selection, control plans, and yield improvement.

Partner closely with chemical suppliers to assess their capabilities, identify potential risks, and drive continuous improvement in their manufacturing operations.

Thoroughly understand complex material specifications and provide critical feedback to internal teams on manufacturability, inspection feasibility, and cost implications.

Define, validate, and implement appropriate inspection and test methods to verify material adherence to specifications.

Identify and mitigate technical, quality, and production risks within the chemical supply chain.

Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for supplier-related material quality issues, driving sustainable solutions.

What you'll bring:

4+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or supplier quality engineering, with a strong emphasis on chemical or advanced material production.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field.

Demonstrated expertise in developing and scaling chemical manufacturing processes (e.g., synthesis, purification, powder processing, blending/tolling, formulation).

Solid understanding of material specifications, statistical process control (SPC), process capability (Cpk) and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
