Nubank Senior Counsel to lead regulatory legal strategy for payments and digital assets across Latin America. Advise on licensing, registrations, and regulatory compliance for new products and markets.
Responsibilities
As Senior Counsel, Regulatory Legal – Latin America, you will be the legal voice on how Nu's payments and digital-assets products can operate, launch and scale across the region. You will define where licenses, registrations or regulated entities are required, and turn that analysis into a clear recommendation the business can act on.
This is a legal and regulatory strategy role, not a compliance operations role. You will work with Product, Compliance, Public Policy, Risk, Treasury and business leaders on new products and new markets, in an environment where regulation is moving faster than the product. You will own the regulatory path for what we build next, and you will be expected to say "here is the path I recommend", not just "here are the risks".
You'll be responsible for
Advising on regulatory legal strategy for payments, money movement, wallets, stored value, digital assets, stablecoins and related products across Latin America.
Building and maintaining a country-by-country view of the regulatory perimeter: which activities require licenses, registrations, approvals or local regulated entities.
Leading the legal analysis for entry into new markets and for the launch of new products, features and business models.
Working with Product and business teams to structure products in line with applicable law, and proposing alternative structures when the initial model hits a regulatory obstacle.
Coordinating license and registration applications (payments, financial services, virtual assets) and supporting engagement with regulators, central banks and other authorities, including on novel issues.
Managing local external counsel while remaining accountable for synthesizing their input into a practical recommendation.
Creating scalable frameworks, playbooks and decision trees so recurring questions are answered consistently across markets.
Monitoring regulatory developments and separating what materially affects our strategy from general noise, and anticipating where regulation is heading on stablecoins, tokenized money, crypto-assets and new payment infrastructure.
Briefing senior legal and business leaders on complex regulatory topics in clear, concise and commercially useful terms.
