Revel Product Manager to own the developer tools workflow for RevelCode, including the language experience and IDE. Responsible for customer discovery and developing an IDE strategy aligned with engineering.
Responsibilities
We’re hiring a Product Manager to own how customers write, test, and ship the control programs that run their hardware. Those programs are written in RevelCode, our domain-specific language for hardware control, and you’ll own both the language experience and the IDE we’re building for it. The people writing RevelCode are test and controls engineers, and what they write executes against physical systems. A confusing compiler error or a slow test loop costs more than time here. It raises the chance a mistake reaches hardware.
Own the full workflow for writing, testing, deploying, and monitoring RevelCode: editing and deploying configurations to the runtime, unit testing control logic before it ships, version control, and dashboard generation
Own RevelCode usability end to end: syntax, snippets, completion, diagnostics, and the compiler errors customers report as the most confusing
Run discovery with customers and operators, including at air-gapped sites, to learn which editor features they actually depend on rather than which ones they’d claim to miss
Develop an IDE strategy that engineering agrees with. It should say what our IDE does better than a general-purpose editor for control programs, and what customers give up for anything we don’t rebuild
You’ll own the IDE and the RevelCode authoring experience end to end
You’ll work on problems that don’t have existing playbooks
Join a deeply technical team building next-generation hardware control infrastructure
High ownership and visibility from day one
Competitive compensation and meaningful equity
Qualification
Hands-on programming experienceExperience with language tooling
Required
You’ve built developer tools and you use them critically. You can tell the difference between a feature developers ask for and one they’d actually adopt
You can read a compiler error from the user’s point of view and say what’s wrong with it
You’re comfortable working with engineers who operate deep in systems, compilers, or real-time infrastructure
You don’t need fully defined requirements to get started
You care about product quality and user experience, not just delivery
5+ years of product management experience on developer tools: an IDE, code editor, language toolchain, CI system, or SDK
Hands-on programming experience; you have spent years writing and debugging code yourself
Experience conducting customer research and turning it into a clear product strategy
Ability to work closely with engineers on technical tradeoffs and explain those tradeoffs in writing
Experience coordinating engineers to execute on a product vision
Experience with industrial automation or test systems, such as PLC programming, LabVIEW, or test stand software
Experience with language tooling, such as the Language Server Protocol, editor extensions, or compiler diagnostics
Preferred
Experience with industrial automation or test systems such as PLC programming, LabVIEW, or test stand software
Experience with language tooling such as the Language Server Protocol, editor extensions, or compiler diagnostics
Experience shipping software for on-premise or air-gapped environments
Experience with browser-based editors such as Monaco or CodeMirror
Experience in a safety-critical or regulated domain such as aerospace, energy, automotive, or medical devices
A record of shipping a product that replaced an established tool, including the migration plan for existing users
