Crusoe Software Engineer I, Network at Crusoe contributing to cloud network infrastructure development and operation. Opportunity to grow skills in distributed systems and network engineering.
Responsibilities
The Cloud Network team at Crusoe is looking for a Software Engineer I to join our team building and operating cloud network infrastructure. This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer to grow their skills in distributed systems and network engineering while contributing to high-performance, scalable, and reliable network solutions. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, learning cloud network primitives and network engineering concepts as you take on increasingly independent ownership of features and projects.
What You'll Be Working On
Contribute to Engineering Efforts: Work with your team on cloud network features, helping to implement well-scoped pieces of larger projects as defined by product and engineering leads.
Software Development: Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with guidance from senior engineers. Contribute to design documentation for the features you work on. Participate in testing and rollout of software across the stack, from bare metal to user-facing APIs.
Technical Contribution: Take part in code reviews (both giving and receiving feedback), and participate in architecture and design discussions to build your understanding of the broader system.
Continuous Learning: Actively grow your technical skills through mentorship, pairing, and collaboration with teammates. Ask questions, seek feedback, and build foundational knowledge in distributed network systems.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Participate in team initiatives like tech talks, open source exploration, and book clubs to broaden your exposure to the engineering organization.
What You'll Bring to the Team
Foundational Technical Skills: Some hands-on experience (through internships, school projects, or ~1 year of professional work) with building or operating software systems; exposure to cloud infrastructure or distributed systems is a plus but not required.
Software Engineering Fundamentals: Familiarity with core software engineering practices — coding standards, code reviews, source control (e.g., Git), testing, and basic CI/CD or build processes. Eagerness to learn and adopt team best practices.
Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java or Go. Basic understanding of Linux fundamentals and computer architecture concepts (willingness to deepen this knowledge on the job).
Communication & Collaboration: Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset; comfortable asking questions and working closely with more senior engineers.
