SpaceX Millwright (Launch Hardware) at SpaceX works on building and improving mechanical systems at rocket launch facilities. The role involves installing, inspecting, adjusting, and maintaining industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities
Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools
Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
Adjust machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts
Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, motors and programmable logic controls
Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts
Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
Align and test equipment, and make any necessary adjustments
Perform predictive and operational procedures
Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
Ensure operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations
Sharpen and maintain cutting tools
Qualification
Experience using inspection equipmentADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
3+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/production or tooling environment
Preferred
Experience using inspection equipment, such as micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges
Able to use and learn a variety of software to observe, analyze, evaluate, and communicate pertinent information
Demonstrated leadership and dependability
Able to adapt to an extremely dynamic work environment while maintaining a positive attitude
Able to find solutions to problems through diverse thinking while utilizing a varied experience
Able to maintain the highest level of safety on the job site and bring new ideas of how to continue to work safely and effectively in new locations and changing environments
