• You've written technical accounting memos on complex areas such as revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, or equity, and they held up under audit scrutiny.
• You've owned a financial reporting close and produced GAAP financial statements on a demanding timeline.
• You've built accounting policies, processes, or controls from scratch rather than maintaining a mature function.
• You've managed external auditors through a full audit and resolved contentious positions without the timeline blowing up.
• You've worked through the accounting for genuinely novel or complex transactions where the precedent was thin.
• You explain technical accounting conclusions clearly enough that non-accountants can act on them.
• Bonus: CPA. Big Four technical accounting or national-office background. Capital-intensive industry experience (data centers, energy, real estate, infrastructure). NetSuite or comparable ERP implementation. Pre-IPO or audit-readiness experience.
