xAI Construction Manager, Structural leads a self-performing structural crew building launch sites, factories, and AI superclusters. The role includes overseeing foremen, setting safety and quality standards, and managing structural steel, ironwork, metal deck, framing, and welding work.

Responsibilities

Directly oversee foremen and, through them, a large self-perform structural crew installing structural steel, ironwork, metal deck, framing, elevated slabs, flooring systems, roofing, and the general structure of the building, including crane and rigging work that raises the structure and welding of steel structure
Set clear expectations for safety, quality, schedule, and conduct, and hold foremen and crews accountable when those expectations are missed
Remove roadblocks so crews can keep working: materials, access, sequencing, coordination with other trades, and decisions
Recommend promotions, role changes, and corrective action based on performance
Plan and run the night-shift assignment, including extended hours, as part of a 24/7 operation
Keep structural installations on SpaceXSI’s quality and reliability standards, including code compliance and structural integrity required for data center operation
Track daily progress and maintain logs, red-line drawings, and as-built documentation for the building structure
Build and hold an aggressive construction schedule, on time and within budget
Champion SpaceXSI’s safety program and a zero-incident culture around steel erection, crane and rigging work, working at heights, welding, and heavy structural work
Resolve on-site issues — material delays, technical conflicts, sequencing, and trade coordination — with attention to structural integrity and code compliance
Inspect work for compliance with local regulations, building codes, safety protocols, and SpaceXSI quality standards
Report progress, structural construction metrics, and risks to senior leadership

Qualification

Track record on data centersExperience with Procore

Required

High school diploma or equivalency certificate
3+ years leading structural construction teams, including supervision of foremen
3+ years of direct hands-on experience in structural installations, including structural steel, ironwork, metal deck, framing, elevated slabs, flooring systems, roofing, or general building construction

Preferred

Experience leading large self-perform crews on industrial or mission-critical structural projects
Direct hands-on experience on industrial processes or heavy structural projects
Postsecondary diploma or degree in construction management, structural or civil engineering, or a related field
Track record on data centers, hyperscale facilities, or similar mission-critical structural construction
Familiarity with Memphis-area building codes, IBC, AISC, OSHA steel erection standards, and industrial permitting
Experience with Procore, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar tools on complex infrastructure work
Strong grasp of structural critical path, sequencing, and coordination with electrical, mechanical, and civil trades through commissioning
Understanding of data center structural requirements, including steel frame, elevated slabs, flooring systems, roofing, and load paths built for heavy equipment and 24/7 operation
