The New York Times The Frontend Engineering Intern at The New York Times works on a cross-functional team using React, GraphQL, and CSS Modules to deliver journalism at scale. The role includes contributing to product direction and participating in architectural discussions.

Responsibilities

Join a cross-functional team that includes peers from design, product and often editors from the newsroom. Work with current technologies including React, GraphQL and CSS Modules.
Have a voice in the direction of our products.
You will work at scale to help deliver our journalism to millions of users around the world.
Have the opportunity to work with all parts of the stack and contribute to broader architectural discussions within the organization.
You will be encouraged to participate in open-source projects and share your work at conferences and the Times Open blog.
Demonstrates support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Qualification

Required

You have at least 6 months of educational or professional experience with frontend engineering

Preferred

You have 6 months+ of professional experience working with current web technologies
You have experience working in a highly collaborative environment with peers from different backgrounds and skill sets
You enjoy finding creative solutions to technical challenges and appreciate the balance between strong convictions and a pragmatic approach
Additional Compensation and Benefits:
