Base Power Regulatory Compliance Engineer owns certification paths for batteries, inverters, grid-connected devices, and solar products. Manages relationships with NRTLs and standards bodies to ensure compliance and timely product launches.
Responsibilities
Base is hiring a Compliance Engineer to own the certification path for our batteries, inverters, grid-connected devices, and solar products. You'll take each product from early design through certification and launch, run our relationships with NRTLs and standards bodies, and make sure compliance never slows a product down.
Own relationships with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs), test labs, and standards bodies.
Build compliance into product requirements early, so engineering designs to the standard from day one.
Interpret, and when needed challenge, how standards apply across battery, inverter, and solar products.
Plan and run certification programs: test plans, setup, execution, and data analysis.
Review and approve hardware and system designs for compliance.
Work with firmware and controls engineers so software behavior supports certification.
Track new and changing standards, flag roadmap impact, and represent Base in working groups.
Be the internal expert on NEC and UL requirements.
Document processes, findings, and gaps so we stay audit-ready.

Our compliance team makes sure certification is never the reason a Base product ships late. We build standards into requirements from day one, run every certification program with test labs, and help shape the standards that govern home energy storage. Homeowners across the country rely on Base for whole-home backup and lower electricity bills. Our network of home batteries also helps keep the grid stable as demand climbs from AI, electrification, and extreme weather. We build in-house and expand at a speed and cost incumbents can't match, and this team makes that possible.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
