Aiuc Strategic Finance role at AIUC defines and builds the company's operational backbone including finance, HR, legal, and vendor operations. The role owns financial infrastructure, board reporting, spend controls, and monthly close.
Responsibilities
We’re looking for someone to define AIUC’s operational backbone. You’ll bring in-house the finance, HR, legal and vendor operations we currently stitch together. You’ll build the financial infrastructure a fast-scaling company needs: the operating model, board reporting, spend controls and monthly close.
In practice this means you will:
Insource and own core finance operations - map every vendor, contractor and outside firm, decide what to keep, cut or bring in-house, and take over HR, legal and vendor admin from the founders.
Centralize spend and financial controls - consolidate spend into one place, set approval thresholds and card & reimbursement policy, and run a monthly close on a fixed calendar.
Own strategic finance and board reporting - build and run the operating model (burn, runway, headcount plan, revenue), produce board packs and financial analysis, and flag variances early with an operational fix attached.
Build the systems layer - replace manual work with tooling, automations and agents, and stand up the scaffolding new business lines need (entity structure, licensing, audit-ready records) as we move into underwriting.
Over time, you’ll support the revenue side (invoicing, sales analytics, light pricing work). You’ll own the plan that keeps overhead growing slower than headcount, and you’ll build a small team or fractional bench under you (ops associate, controller, fractional CFO).

Required
6-10 years of experience with a finance foundation, eg investment banking, PE or Big 4 accounting (a CPA is a plus), and time as the first or an early finance & ops hire at a venture-backed Seed-Series B company.
Built from a blank page - you’ve set up ops or finance infrastructure from scratch, not only operated inside an existing system.
Hands-on beyond finance - you handle payroll, visas, contracts and onboarding, and you enjoy that half of the job as much as the modelling.
Detail-obsessed - leadership and the board can trust your numbers without re-checking them.
Discretion - you treat comp, cap table and board materials as need-to-know without being told.
Urgency and structure - you take an ambiguous ask once and come back with a finished thing. When you cut scope, you cut it deliberately and name the trade-off.
Finds satisfaction in enabling others and takes pride in operations that run invisibly.
We are in the business of building trust. We take our values seriously and treat them as commitments to each other, held to the same bar as the ones we make to customers.
Strong back: high standards, keep our promises, work hard.
Fast feet: experiment, cut scope, take delight in pace.
Eyes up: wrestle with the mission, and let where AI is heading shape our strategy, our teams and our day-to-day work.
Open heart: say the scary thing, create connection, make room for emotions.
