TerraFirma-Inc IT Technician at TerraFirma responsible for setting up and maintaining IT equipment and infrastructure as the company grows. Tasks include device setup, redeployment, inventory management, and first-level IT support.
Responsibilities
You’ll work directly with our IT Director, who sets standards and owns infrastructure, while you make it happen on the ground every day. We care more about curiosity, reliability, and hands-on ability than years of experience, and we’ll train the right person on our systems and on cabling. Along the way, you’ll learn identity management, device management, and enterprise networking on the job.
Prepare, set up, and hand off laptops, desktops, iPads, and peripherals for new employees, and walk them through first sign-in and the tools they’ll use
Wipe, reimage, and redeploy returned equipment, and retire devices at end of life
Enroll devices in our mobile device management (MDM) platforms and confirm they report in correctly
Keep hardware inventory accurate, including who has what, serial numbers, and spares, and receive and check incoming equipment orders
Own the IT help Slack channel, resolving what you can and escalating the rest to the IT Director
Troubleshoot hardware, Wi-Fi, printer, sign-in, and app issues for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Linux users
Run, terminate, label, and test Cat6/Cat6A network cable for new desks, rooms, and suites
Mount and connect Wi-Fi access points, cameras, and other network devices, and keep network closets and racks organized
Serve as the on-site point of contact for outside vendors, including low-voltage contractors, ISPs, and door access providers
Carry out projects planned by the IT Director, such as device re-enrollments, office moves, and network upgrades
