Rain is looking for a Business Development Lead to build and scale our presence in the rapidly emerging agentic commerce ecosystem.
You’ll drive new business by identifying high-value opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and building a strong commercial pipeline. You’ll also help shape Rain’s commercial thesis at the intersection of stablecoins and AI, identifying where our infrastructure can unlock new use cases and where Rain has a right to win.
Working closely with Product and Engineering, you’ll translate market insights into commercial and product opportunities and position Rain as a critical infrastructure partner for the next generation of commerce.
This is a highly entrepreneurial role for someone who can see where the market is headed, move early, and turn emerging opportunities into meaningful growth for Rain.
Build Rain’s agentic commerce pipeline: Identify, source, and develop high-value commercial opportunities across AI-native companies, agent platforms, agentic commerce infrastructure providers, and emerging payment ecosystems.
Develop our agentic commerce strategy: Define priority segments, use cases, target accounts, and partnership opportunities, with a particular focus on where stablecoin and payments infrastructure can unlock new capabilities for AI-powered commerce.
Drive commercial execution: Develop compelling value propositions, manage a high-quality pipeline, and work cross-functionally to convert opportunities into long-term partnerships.
Stay ahead of the market: Identify emerging trends, technologies, companies, and use cases across AI and payments early, and translate them into commercial opportunities and strategic priorities for Rain.
Own strategic partnerships: Lead opportunities from initial outreach and discovery through solutioning, negotiation, deal execution, and handoff.
Build the ecosystem: Establish relationships with founders, developers, and industry leaders shaping the future of AI-powered commerce and autonomous payments.
Partner with Product and Engineering: Bring market intelligence and prospective partner feedback into product discussions, helping inform Rain’s roadmap and identify opportunities for new capabilities.

Required

6+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or a related commercial role, ideally within AI, fintech, payments, or emerging technology.
Strong understanding of the AI ecosystem, particularly agentic commerce, AI agents, and the infrastructure enabling autonomous transactions.
Demonstrated ability to source, develop, negotiate, and close strategic commercial partnerships.
Entrepreneurial mindset with experience building new business opportunities end to end, entering emerging markets, or developing go-to-market strategies from the ground up.
Strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify high-potential opportunities in rapidly evolving markets.
Ability to form an independent point of view on emerging markets and translate it into commercial action.
Ability to engage credibly with both technical and business stakeholders, translating complex technologies into clear commercial value propositions.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
High degree of ownership, intellectual curiosity, and bias toward action.
Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and limited established playbooks.

Preferred

Direct experience working at an AI-native company, agentic commerce platform, or AI infrastructure provider.
Existing relationships within the AI developer, agentic commerce, or emerging payments ecosystem.
Familiarity with AI agent frameworks, agent payment protocols, and emerging standards for autonomous transactions.
Experience with payments infrastructure, card issuing, stablecoins, wallets, or blockchain-based financial services.
Track record of building and scaling a new commercial vertical or ecosystem partnership strategy.
